Dear Mesdames,
Following upon our pamphlet describing our aims and the work we are doing, we wish to expand on this and to ask for your assistance.
According to the local committee headed by Ronit Garber and Ettie Pilpel, the W.L.I. house at 37 King George St. will be ready after the Holy Days (end of October this year).
One of our aims is to grant the young people who leave the Haredi world, the status of New Immigrants. When they leave the Religious “world” they are at the bottom of the social and economic scale. Immigrant status would give them benefits which would help them more easily to adapt to their new lives and the difficult adjustment they need to make. It is very important to bring about awareness of this situation.
To show our appreciation of your great assistance, The Historian Prof. Michael Har-Sagor would like to prepare a program for one of his regular series he has on The Israeli Army Radio, on the history of the Women’s League for Israel and their Women’s Immigrants hostels which were active from the 1930’s.
To do this we require material which you may have in your archives.
